Unlike the trend within the electronics industry where the longer you wait the lower prices become on items, the insurance industry trend is that the longer one waits to obtain coverage, the more that they are going to have to pay for that coverage. One good example is within the realm of life insurance or long term care coverage; the longer one waits to start these policies, the more that they are going to pay in order to have them. A second example would be with extended automobile warranty coverage. The older the car and the more miles already on the vehicle before buying the extended automobile warranty, the more it is going to eat a hole in one’s wallet.

Buying an extended automobile warranty is a good way to protect the investment that was made when one originally purchased their vehicle. Despite the fact that it is common knowledge that cars depreciate the second they are driven off of the car lot, this doesn’t mean that it isn’t prudent to still cover the vehicle. Very few people have enough cars at home to pick another out and change it like a pair of shoes when something goes wrong,. The average individual needs to balance work/home priorities and finds last minute distractions, and a major repair to their car can mean being ‘out of commission’ for a few days while the repairs are being taken care of.
