With just over half a million people, Mallorca is a favourite tourist destination. The main developed centres of the island are mostly centred along the coast, and this is where the majority of tourists book their holidays. However, the interior of the island is something that should not be missed.

The main city of Mallorca – Palma – holds the majority of the local population. It is a well developed capital with facilities for locals and tourists alike. There is a good night life in the area, some fabulous restaurants, beaches and hotels. The island has hosted visitors from before WW2; however its tourism really kicked off in the latter part of the 20th century. Hotels began to spring up, starting a wave of commercialisation and development on the island.
